Hosted by Nate and Lindsay Lee Long
Join friends and community for a Thanksgiving picnic in the park and help create and hold a 50-foot dreamcatcher!
You are welcome to picnic before or during the weaving.
This is a participatory ceremony where we come together to create a giant dreamcatcher, with some people holding the outer edges (the "corners") and others weaving the net. Once the dreamcatcher is complete, we'll gather for a gratitude ceremony (approximately 2 PM). Participants will be invited to step into the center and share what they are grateful for.
Nate has held this ceremony every November since 2015. In 2020, during COVID, 50 people gathered at Zilker Park to help create a 100-foot dreamcatcher! Here are photos from past years, including the 2020 dreamcatcher:

This year, we're taking it outside again, and the more people, the better!
Please come early, bring a picnic lunch, a blanket or chair, and enjoy the company and the day.
Bring your children! Bring your cameras!
No experience is necessary. Just come willing to participate, share gratitude, and enjoy an afternoon together.
This event is open to everyone. Please share the invitation! RSVP's are requested but not required.
Donations for the event are appreciated but optional. A basket will be available at the event.
Proceeds will be donated to the Austin Homeless Community.
If the weather looks questionable, notices will be sent. Please RSVP to keep updated.
Please note that the dreamcatcher is a Native American tradition originating with the Ojibwe people. This ceremony is my own adaptation, offered with respect for its origins and as a way to bring people together in gratitude and community.
