The Garden is going global! Join us for the second edition of this annual weekend-long film festival which will feature some of the best classic films from around the world. Running Friday, Oct. 9th-Sunday, Oct. 11th, we will be featuring works from nine different countries. Including beloved foreign classics like Godard’s WEEKEND, Ozu’s GOOD MORNING, and Murnau’s FAUST, as well as rarely screened gems like the Finnish melodrama RESTLESS BLOOD or the Senegalese road movie TOUKI BOUKI. 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲: A quiet suburban neighborhood is disrupted when two young brothers stop speaking in protest over their parents’ refusal to buy a television set. Directed by Yasujirō Ozu, GOOD MORNING gently observes the rhythms of daily life, where gossip, misunderstandings and small social rituals reveal deeper currents of desire and conformity. With its precise framing and understated humor, the film is one of Ozu’s absolute best and offers a warmly ironic portrait of postwar Japan. In Japanese w/ subtitles.
