About this Event
Death is a natural part of life, but most of us were never taught how to talk about it, plan for it, or support the people we love through it. The result is often confusion, fear, and regret – for individuals facing death and their families and caregivers. The Good Death / Good Life Café is a free, monthly community gathering in the Cedar Falls Public Library for adults of all ages who want to discuss and prepare for aging, serious illness, and our eventual deaths - along with what gives life meaning!
During this 90-minute Café, we’ll share coffee, tea, and treats while we explore practical and emotional topics around end of life and aging in clear, compassionate language. You’ll be invited (never required) to share your thoughts, ask questions, listen to others, and learn simple ways to support yourself and the people you care about.
This is not a therapy group or a place where anyone is “fixed.” It is a safe, respectful space to connect, learn, and reflect without judgement. You are free to share as much or as little as you like. Many people simply come to listen the first time.
Our intention is that you leave feeling less alone, more informed, and more at peace with this natural part of life’s journey. All beliefs and backgrounds are welcome. You’ll be met with kindness, respect, and room to be yourself.
NOTE: Every few months we'll pause the Good Death / Good Life monthly series and welcome a traditional Death Café into the space - same time and place.
- The next traditional Death Café is tentatively planned for January 2027 and details will be confirmed closer to the event. Come join us!
