The fourth in an ongoing series of live recording sessions held inside or outside The Kennel at Browndog Productions’ film studio in Paddington, Brisbane. The last party i mean show featuring Kooii was sold out.
Golden Sound brings a distinctive feel-good, very fat funk to The Kennel. Set within the studio’s leafy rainforest surrounds, the evening promises driving rhythms, cosmic synthesisers and plenty of reasons to meet on the dance floor.
Inspired by the raw energy of James Brown, Golden Sound pairs deep funk grooves with warm analogue texture. At the centre is the conductor, Peter G (G Dollar$), a unique talented and highly admired familiar presence in Brisbane’s music scene, whose performances are built around connection, movement and good times. And an avalanche of funk.
Over the past 15 years, Peter G and his Golden Sound have served up the funk to audiences throughout Australia, including shows at Woodford Folk Festival, Island Vibe and Brisbane Festival. This band always serves up. They are also the only ever band to have been Woodford’s Pineapple Lounge’s house band, twice.
Appearing in full-band mode, serving a bass-heavy slab of funk, Golden Sound will also welcome some of his talented friends onto the stage for some funky jams.
As Scene Magazine said...
“Peter G is a local institution. When it comes to funk that makes you want to get down on the dance floor, he is the master.”
