📅 26 - 28 November
📍Carriageworks, Sydney
Drawing its title from three languages: Goeyga Buya (“Sunrise” in Kala Lagaw Ya), Banal (“Sun” in Darkinjung) and Djarrawawuy (“Sunset” in Gumatj), Sun Cycle celebrates the strength of NAISDA today, and its unique place in Australia’s cultural and creative landscape, shaped across generations and carried forward through new works and voices. One sun sets and another rises. At the edge of a new day, today’s artists look to the future, imagining the stories and dances that will shape the next 50 years.
NAISDA’s two cultural communities will share the Carriageworks stage for the first time, bringing cultural song and dance from Moa Island, Torres Strait, and the Dätiwuy Clan, North East Arnhem Land.
Directed by NAISDA alumni and award-winning choreographers Thomas E.S. Kelly and Taree Sansbury of Karul Projects, and performed by NAISDA’s Developing and Practising Artists.artists
