About this Event
Explore an intercultural exchange with the Dakota/Lakota Nation
Every Indigenous community has its own language, history, and cultural expression, but there are many beliefs, struggles, and experiences, that are shared by all. We can draw strength and inspiration from sharing and celebrating these connections.
Siŋté Háŋska is an initiative that facilitates intercultural exchanges between Native American communities and others around the world. This presentation charts some of our recent travel programs, based on the themes of youth development and language revitalization. We invite you to explore what an exchange could like between your community and the Dakota/Lakota homelands in the Northern Great Plains.
This is a side event of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII), but it is open to the public. The in-person event takes place in the BIC Office, 866 United Nations Plaza; or you can attend online via Zoom. Registration is free but mandatory. Please register for in-person attendance by 3PM ET on Monday, April 20th.
