Returning to the serenity of St. Paul’s Chapel, Trinity’s early-music experts explore the more human side of Bach’s art. In contrast to the magnificent large choral pieces of his B Minor Mass, not to mention Handel’s Messiah, today’s concert finds Bach at his most introspective, with works that draw on texts of self-reflection and consolation.
