Remember when you were young and thought you were going to get away from Glen Ridge?
Yeah. How'd that work out?
The years have passed. People moved away. People came back. Some of us got considerably less hair. Some of us got considerably more stories. And some of our classmates and friends aren't here anymore.
But somehow, Glen Ridge is still Glen Ridge.
So we're getting together again for a night of live music, old friends, questionable musical decisions, and the kind of community that doesn't seem to care how many years it's been since you sat in a classroom on Ridgewood Avenue.
And this year, we're doing it for a really good reason.
LET'S RAISE $3,000 FOR GLEN RIDGE STUDENTS!
The 100th Monkey Foundation is raising money for the arts in Glen Ridge Schools.
Our goal is $3,000, which will provide:
🎓 $1,000 toward a scholarship for a Glen Ridge student continuing their education in the performing arts
🎨 $1,000 toward a scholarship for a Glen Ridge student continuing their education in the visual arts
🏫 At least another $1,000 for the Glen Ridge Schools Arts Department, to be used where the district needs it most.
100% of the money raised at this event goes to Glen Ridge Schools.
So yes, come hear some old classmates make some noise.
But more importantly, come help a kid make some noise someday, too.
THE MUSICIANS
We've assembled a particularly suspicious collection of Glen Ridge alumni and other assorted musical troublemakers:
Scott Cumming (By George!) — GRHS Class of '77
Stephen Dempsey (Dead Dog's Eye) — Xavier HS (NYC) Class of '84
Darren Gage (GRHS Band Director) — GRHS Class of '90
Doug Gillespie (Dead Dog's Eye) — GRHS Class of '85
Guy Gsell — GRHS Class of ‘78
Bill Guerra (Expanding Man) — GRHS Class of '85
Jim Guerra (The Guerra Family Man Band) — GRHS Class of '80
Joe Guerra (The Guerra Family Man Band) — GRHS Class of '76
Ed McLaughlin (Paul Is Dead) — GRHS Class of '83
Dave Parsons (The Mexican Mud Band) — GRHS Class of '86
Rich Pascall (Gutter Kings) — GRHS Class of '80
Mark Pavlica (The Dharma Bums) — Clifton HS Class of '83
Miguel Rodriguez (Heroes For Ghosts) — Montclair HS Class of '82
John Sullivan (Marshmellow Overcoat) — GRHS Class of '84
Bob White (Dinosaur Rock!) — GRHS Class of '90
Sound provided by Friends of The 100th Monkey.
There will be music. There will be stories. There will probably be some version of, "Remember when...?"
And there will almost certainly be somebody you haven't seen in 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 years who somehow looks exactly the same.
Except for the hair.
IT'S NOT JUST A REUNION
There is an element of remembering those classmates and friends we've lost. Of course there is. They're part of our story, and they'll always be part of this community.
But this night isn't a memorial.
It's a celebration.
A celebration of the people who grew up here. The people who stayed. The people who left and came back. The people who still know the difference between Bloomfield Avenue and Ridgewood Avenue without GPS. The artists, musicians, teachers, coaches, business owners, parents, troublemakers, overachievers, underachievers, and everyone in between.
It's a celebration of the weird and wonderful fact that, after all these years, we're still connected.
And we're going to put that connection to work for the next generation.
$20 GETS YOU IN. MORE GETS US TO $3,000.
The cover charge is $20—and please give more if you can.
Bring your friends. Bring your old classmates. Bring somebody who graduated before you. Bring somebody who graduated after you. Hell, bring somebody who never went to Glen Ridge but has been putting up with the rest of us for years.
Just come.

Presented by The 100th Monkey Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the arts, strengthening community, helping others, and generally trying to make the world a little more interesting and a little more human.
Because the truth is:
You can leave Glen Ridge.
But Glen Ridge apparently isn't finished with you yet.
"Well, we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun..."
Come on out. Let's make some music. Let's raise some money. Let's see who shows up.
