About this Event
Ever fancied giving acting a go? Or perhaps you’ve done a bit before and fancy getting back into it? Join The Growth House for a free, practical acting workshop where we’ll explore what it takes to bring a character to life.
We’ll be working with scenes and scripts, exploring the thoughts, feelings and motivations behind a character’s actions. Using acting techniques and our imagination , we’ll discover how to understand a character’s world and bring honesty to their story.
There’ll be opportunities to experiment, work with others, have a laugh and perhaps discover something about yourself along the way.
You don’t need any acting experience, and there’s no pressure to perform in front of an audience. Come along, have a brew, meet some new people and give something different a go.
What to expect
- Practical acting exercises suitable for complete beginners
- Working with scenes and scripts
- Exploring characters, emotions and motivations
- Discovering how imagination and personal experience can bring truth to a performance
- Meeting new people and trying something creative in a relaxed, welcoming environment
Who’s it for?
We’re particularly keen to encourage men over 18 to get involved, but everyone is welcome. Whether you’ve never acted before or you’re looking to revisit some familiar techniques, we’d love to have you along.
BIG STRONG MAN
This event is part of our BIG STRONG MAN project - a community-led men’s programme delivered across Scarborough. Through creative workshops, we’re bringing people together to try new things, explore different perspectives and build connections. At the heart of the programme is a belief that creativity can help us better understand ourselves and the people around us.
