Join RGV AUG for GIS Day 2026, a two-day event celebrating Geographic Information Systems, geospatial technology, innovation, education, and the professionals and organizations using GIS to solve real-world challenges.
Taking place November 19–20, 2026, at the Edinburg ACE Center, this year's event brings together GIS professionals, government agencies, educators, students, industry professionals, and members of the community for hands-on training, presentations, networking, and knowledge sharing.
Day 1 – GIS Training Day | Thursday, November 19
Start your GIS Day experience with a full day of **hands-on Esri training** designed to help participants build practical skills they can take back to their organizations.
Morning workshops include:
Transitioning to ArcGIS Pro: Are You Still Using ArcMap?
Beyond the Basics: Exploring ArcGIS Online
Afternoon workshops include:
Elevate Your ArcGIS Pro Skills
The Power of a Story: Presenting Your Work Using ArcGIS StoryMaps
Participants in the hands-on workshops will work directly with the technology and should bring their own laptops. ArcGIS Pro participants should have ArcGIS Pro installed prior to the training.
Day 2 – GIS Speakers & Community Showcase | Friday, November 20
Day two features a diverse program of GIS professionals, educators, government representatives, and industry experts sharing their experiences and applications of GIS.
Featured presentations include topics related to:
- Artificial Intelligence and land records
- GIS in education
- Weather and GIS
- Municipal GIS
- Water resources
- Disaster resilience
- Emerging GIS technologies
A dedicated *hands-on ArcGIS Instant Apps workshop will also be offered during the morning in a separate training room for registered participants.
The day will also include the RGVAUG GIS Day Map Gallery Winners during the closing program.
