About this Event
Starts Thursday 5 November, 4pm—6pm | Runs every Thursday for 6 weeks, finishing before Christmas
Curious about cars and ready to challenge the status quo?Join Taunton College (part of UCS College Group) for an exclusive 6-week after-school club designed to inspire the next generation of female engineers.
We are thrilled to offer a fun, fearless, and hands-on programme designed exclusively for students who are curious about engineering, mechanics, and how things work. We warmly welcome all female-identifying, non-binary and gender non-conforming students in Years 9, 10, and 11 to join this supportive space.
Across the 6 weeks, participants will be introduced to key automotive and engineering concepts through engaging workshops led by our specialist instructors. Step into the garage where you will get hands-on with real engines, solve engineering challenges, and build your confidence using professional tools.
Each weekly session includes practical tasks, problem-solving activities, and team challenges designed to encourage creativity, collaboration, and curiosity.
Due to the progressive nature of the workshops, participants are expected to attend every weekly session to get the most out of the experience.
You only need to book once to secure your spot for the entire 6-week after-school programme.
Why join?
- Build confidence in a supportive environment
- Explore exciting career pathways in automotive and engineering
- Learn real practical skills using industry-standard equipment
- Meet like-minded students and take part in fun weekly challenges
- Go home with new skills, knowledge, and potentially a tangible showpiece, certificate, or portfolio piece.
Why This Matters
Let's change the status quo. The UK needs to fill 173,000 engineering and technology roles by 2030, which is impossible without more women and non-binary people joining the industry. Currently, women make up just 16.9% of the UK's engineering and technology workforce, and only 4% of automotive apprentices in the UK are women.
