Military use: The War Office requisitioned the house in 1939 to accommodate troops.
Local school: After the bombing of the Newbury Senior Council School in 1943, Shaw House became a school, educating local children until 1985.
Shaw House was completed in 1581 by Thomas Dolman, a member of a successful family who had made their fortune from the cloth industry in Newbury.
A treasure trove of ghostly hauntings. Shaw House has centuries of layers of ghostly activity to uncover. Mysterious lights in the upper rooms, sounds of battle, a grey lady and ghostly disembodied screams, the ghostly activity is in abundance!
