Generational Parenting: A Parenting Workshop
Join us at Greater Huntsville Church on May 8, 2026 at 7:00 PM - 9:00 pm and May 9, 2026 at 8:00 am - 3:00 pm (Central Time) for a fun and relaxed workshop all about parenting across generations. Whether you're a new parent, part of the sandwich generation caregiver, an empty nester, or simply looking for more parenting ideas, this event is ideal for sharing your stories. Ask questions and gain insights from parents experienced in private and public school education and Children's Ministry. Join us to discover fresh ideas, connect with parents who have similar experiences, and learn fun ways to engage with your kids and family!

Lunch will be provided on Saturday by the youth and family ministry. All proceeds go toward sending out children going to Camp Swamp. If you would like to donate to a child attending Camp Swamp, you can do so at registration on Friday or on Saturday. You can also speak to the person who invited you.

Info: Welcome to the Parenting Workshop: Generational Parenting is a powerful workshop that helps parents understand and intentionally shape the legacy they pass down to their children. We will explore topics on building on purpose, training and not telling, and thinking generationally. We look forward to getting to know you and will have a Q& A session to discuss questions you may have and answer questions from the lessions shared.

Info: Legacy: Building a Family of Faith - The stories of God's faithfulness are the most powerful
tools we have for shaping faith in the next generation — but only if we intentionally tell them.
Bio: JD and Claudette Lusan are servants in the Greater Huntsville Church. They have 1 son Travis. They currently serve alongside a core group of men and women at the Greater Huntsville Church. They moved to Huntsville in 2017, when asked to replant the church with only 14 disciples and have grown to over 80 disciples. They love to work in ministry teaching, serving, and encouraging those they lead. The Lusans have weathered the art of parenting, overcoming physical and emotional challenges. Their son who is autistic has exceeded expectations and is now a student at University of Alabama in Huntsville, and a baptized disciple in the Campus and Young Adult Ministry. JD and Claudette separately, have experience in the mission field, medical field as well as sales and marketing.

Thinking Generationally
Host: Darius and Erin Garvida
Info: Thinking Generationally - Parenting children as they transition to different ages, with a focus on teen and adult children. Bio: Darius and Erin have six children (ages 9 to 21) and son-in-law. Darius is a home school dad, retired Air Force, and part time defense contractor who loves to coach his children's youth soccer and volleyball. Erin is a stay-at-home and home school mom who loves to garden and work her mini farm. Darius and Erin are loving parents and amazing servants in the Greater Huntsville Church.

Training Not Telling
Host: JJ and Tae Brand
Info: This class will focus on practicals and principles for training and guiding school-age children. Bio: The Brands moved to Huntsville in 2020 with a goal of serving the local church. They live on an unofficial farm with goats and a garden and enjoy hiking in the beautiful nature that God provides. JJ earned his BS in Biology and has been a public middle school teacher for nearly 15 years, starting his career in an alternative school setting. Tae explores whatever life brings her. She began her career in public libraries, earned her BS in Biology, and worked in environmental science for 13 years. After moving to Huntsville, she taught science at a private school and now works as a clinic administrator at Rocket City Speech Therapy. JJ and Tae have two wonderful children, JT (12) and Esther (9), and they enjoy reading, hiking, and spending as much time together as possible. The Brands feel truly blessed to serve in the Youth and Family ministry at GHVC.
