About this Event
Fans and pundits often claim that women are unsuitable for football commentary on account of their higher vocal pitch. A team of sociolinguists, Dr Sophie Holmes-Elliott (QMUL), Dr Louis Strange (Glasgow), and Dr Matthew Hunt (Southampton), will present their latest experimental findings which investigate this claim directly.
These findings provide a jumping off point for a roundtable featuring comedian Chloe Petts, broadcaster Emily Herbert, and Professor Stacey Pope, where we discuss the challenges facing women in sport, and how we can tackle them.
Roundtable is followed by a drinks reception.
