About this Event
Welcome to Geeky Book Club!
Who are we? We are a group of "geeky" readers who meet monthly to discuss fantasy and sci-fi novels.
What are the meetings like? Our meetings are focused on discussing this month's novel. If you've ever been frustrated after attending a book club where no-one actually talked about the book (or even finished it!) geeky book club may be for you! Questions will be provided to help guide the discussion, and we encourage you to share your own thoughts and takeways with the group.
What kind of books do you read? We generally alternate between fantasy and sci-fi novels each month. Our books are chosen by vote; once you've attended your first meeting you will receive links to vote on our future books.

This month we're following a group of robots struggling to keep their restaurant alive in Automatic Noodle by Annalee Newitz:
From sci-fi visionary and acclaimed author Annalee Newitz comes Automatic Noodle, a cozy near-future novella about a crew of abandoned food service bots opening their very own restaurant.
While San Francisco rebuilds from the chaos of war, a group of food service bots in an abandoned ghost kitchen take over their own delivery app account. They rebrand as a neighborhood lunch spot and start producing some of the tastiest hand-pulled noodles in the city. But there’s just one problem. Someone―or something―is review bombing the restaurant’s feedback page with fake “bad service” reports. Can the bots find the culprit before their ratings plummet and destroy everything they created?

HAPPY HOLIDAYS GEEKY BOOK CLUB MEMBERS!
This will be our last meeting of 2026. Thank you so much for another fantastic year of reading together! If you would like to participate in our holiday book swap, please bring a wrapped copy of a book you've enjoyed and would like to share with others. Participation is not required, everyone who brings a book will leave with a book.

Welcome, new members, to Geeky Book Club! Whether you're a lifelong lover of reading, picking it back up after a break, or just getting into it, we are happy to have you join us! We meet monthly to discuss fantasy and sci-fi books, and occasionally for other social events in-between.
Please keep the following in mind:
- Space is limited; if you are no longer able to attend please cancel your booking so that someone else can attend in your place.
- Our meeting will be in the Brant Hills branch of the Burlington Public Library. The library is attached to a community centre, our room is inside the library, not the community centre. We will have a sign up outside the room.
- We love a good debate, but please remember to keep it respectful and on-topic. Everyone is welcome at geeky book club and discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
- If you have any questions or concerns, please use the link to contact us at the bottom of this page. Geeky book club is hosted by an independant group, not the library, so the library staff may not be able to answer your book-club-specific questions.
