The Gallery of Flight is pleased to welcome longtime member Ron Wojnar as our next Speaker Series presenter on November 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Lance Sijan Room at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE).Ron’s connection to aviation began at an early age. Growing up around the Wisconsin Air National Guard, he developed a fascination with airplanes that would shape his career and his life. At just 10 years old, Ron had the opportunity to sit in the cockpit of a Wisconsin Air Guard C-47 “164” during an Armed Forces Day Open House—a memorable experience that helped fuel his passion for aviation.
Although Ron’s eyesight prevented him from qualifying as a military pilot, it certainly did not keep him out of aviation. After earning a degree in aeronautical engineering from Purdue University, he joined the Air Guard as an aircraft maintenance officer. His career included working with the KC-97s and KC-135s operated by the Wisconsin Air Guard, as well as a civilian career with the FAA. He retired from the Air Guard in 1996 as commander of the 128th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 128th Air Refueling Wing in Milwaukee.
Ron has also accumulated an impressive collection of FAA pilot and mechanic certificates, reflecting a lifetime of hands-on involvement with aviation.
For this edition of the Gallery of Flight Speaker Series, Ron will turn his attention to one of the most recognizable aircraft of aviation's golden age: his vintage Stearman. Ron will share the story behind his aircraft, its history, and what it takes to own, operate, and preserve a vintage airplane.
Whether your interest is military aviation, historic aircraft, restoration, or simply the stories behind the airplanes we love, this promises to be an enjoyable evening with one of the Gallery's long-term aviation enthusiasts.
All Are Welcome!
This event is free and is open to the public—no RSVP is required. Bring along a friend, family member, or neighbor who might enjoy an evening learning more about Ron and his beautiful aircraft.
Parking will be validated for the airport parking structure.
