GAIA Bomb transforms waste wool into felted seed bombs, merging traditional craft with ecological innovation.About this Event
During the workshop, you will be taught how to create your own seed bombs from waste wool and learn more about the innovative properties of wool.
You will be able to take them home; either water propagating them to watch them grow or plant them to bloom for the upcoming spring!
Your instructor, Alice, is currently designing a product and system for dispersing the seed bombs to re-wild environments after a wildfire, and will present the project during this event.
Since the 1930s, 97% of the UK’s wildflower meadows have disappeared. These biodiverse habitats are essential for pollinators and many other native species that support our ecosystem. To reverse this decline, action is needed now.
“Seed bombing,” is a form of Guerrilla Gardening that uses native seeds to re-wild urban spaces, creating safe environments for vital pollinators.
Synthetic fibres have largely replaced wool in textiles, leaving wool from sheep shearing as an agricultural by-product.
GAIA Bomb transforms waste wool into felted seed bombs, merging traditional craft with ecological innovation. By re-purposing waste wool, GAIA Bomb offers a sustainable solution for both agricultural waste and biodiversity loss, helping to restore wild habitats for a greener future.
