Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. Globally, around 1 in 20 women will be diagnosed in their lifetime - in Australia and Germany, it's closer to 1 in 8.
A healthy lifestyle can reduce risk but not eliminate it. What makes the real difference is early detection: the earlier a tumor is found, the better the chances of successful treatment.
Regular self-examination plays a key role in early detection - but many women feel unsure about it.
