Requiem (1893 chamber version)
Fauré’s Requiem has a long history with Cantores in Ecclesia. The choir recorded the work with the Portland Youth Philharmonic in 1998 and has performed it countless times in liturgical settings, including funeral Masses, annual Requiem Masses on All Souls’ Day and Memorial Day, and even in Paris at the Church of the Madeleine, where the 1893 chamber version was first heard.
This performance will mark the first time Cantores has presented Fauré’s Requiem in concert.
This special concert is dedicated to the memory of Cantores’ friends and supporters who have passed away during the choir’s nearly 45-year history.
