On FRIDAY, October 16th, the Fusion cage returns to The Bozone with a pro #bantamweight main event, a pro women's #atomweight co-main event, and a lineup of the valley's top talent from gyms like Montana MMA and Top Tier Boxing. ⚡️⚡️▪️Gates open at 6pm
▪️Main card kicks off at 7pm
▪️MAIN EVENT▪️
In the main event of the night, well-known Fusion pro, Erik Mendez (7-1), invites former Combate Global and Titan FC standout, Tommy Garcia (9-4), to Montana for the first time. 👊💥
Going back to his amateur career, Mendez has fought inside the Fusion cage 7 times. Most recently, he got a 1st round TKO bare-knuckle finish back in March, but returns to his MMA roots for this matchup with Garcia.
Garcia makes his way to Montana from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with Team Mordan. After winning 9 of his last 11 fights, Garcia has dropped two in a row, and hopes this matchup with the streaking Mendez is exactly what he needs to get back to his winning ways.
▪️CO-MAIN EVENT▪️
The co-main event features the women's #atomweight division. Arizona's Maria "Mouse" Henderson (1-1) will take on Hope "Hummingbird" Holmes (2-4), of Texas. 🔥🔥
Holmes returns to the Fusion cage after a tough decision loss to wrestling standout, Victoria Anthony, last month. She put on an outstanding show, but it just wasn't enough to sway the judges decision. She plans to make things right on October 16th.
Her opponent, Maria Henderson, is the wife of legendary UFC star and former champion, Benson Henderson. After going undefeated as an amateur and winning her pro debut, Henderson took her first loss on the Bellator MMA stage, back in 2023.
This is a "get-right-fight" for both of these women. If you've seen an atomweight fight before, you know it is high-intensity from bell to bell. 👏👏👏
