Funk Outreach Project: Bringing funk to the masses.Drawing on the deep wells of classic organ funk and soul-jazz — Jimmy Smith, Grant Green, Reuben Wilson and Roy Hargrove — alongside modern groove merchants such as Delvon Lamarr Trio, Soulive, Lettuce, Ezra Collective, Nate Smith and Snarky Puppy, FOP serve up a potent brew of fat basslines, soulful organ, tight drums, considered guitar licks and clarinet and trumpet-shaped surprises.
Having supported the mighty Corduroy and JTQ and entertained the people of Cambridge at pubs, venues and on unsuspecting greens in the summer months, Funk Outreach Project are now bringing their particular brand of sonic diplomacy to Hot Numbers.
Expect funk. Expect soul. Expect your expectations to be met and possibly surpassed by the intense and powerful geometry of instrumental groove.
Come for the coffee. Stay for the funk. Move your body. Expand your mind. Chat to the person shimmying next to you. Contemplate the universe. This is your world. Your night. Your Cambridge-based funk band.
