A 2-hour full moon gathering of yoga, breath, mantra and meditation, followed by light snacks, beverages and time together.
About this Event

The moon is always whole. What changes is how much of it we can see.

Pūrṇimā means fullness.

The full moon gives us a beautiful reminder that wholeness does not suddenly appear when everything becomes visible.

It was already there.

And perhaps the same is true within us.

Full Moon Yoga & Meditation at Yogshala is a two-hour evening gathering where we slow down, move consciously and create space to notice what has been growing within us.

Not a party under the moon.

Not a performance.

A pause.

Through Classical Haṭha Yoga, prāṇāyāma, mantra, meditation, reflection and silence, we gradually move from the activity of the body toward the quietness of observation.

Why practise on Pūrṇimā?

Traditional Yoga places great importance on rhythm, repetition and conscious living.

Rather than practising only when we feel motivated, yogic practices invite us to create certain moments where we deliberately stop, observe and return to ourselves.

Pūrṇimā—the full moon—has long provided one such natural point of reflection.

The intention is not to treat the moon as something magical that will suddenly transform us.

Instead, the lunar cycle gives us a rhythm.

A moment to pause.

A moment to observe what has changed since the last cycle.

A moment to practise with greater attention.

Traditional practices such as āsana, prāṇāyāma, mantra, dhyāna and silence become particularly meaningful during these gatherings because they turn our attention away from constant external stimulation and toward direct observation of the body, breath and mind.

In a world where we rarely stop, sometimes the most traditional practice is simply learning how to sit quietly again.

The evening may include:
  • Classical Haṭha Yoga
  • Sūkṣma Vyāyāma and mindful movement
  • Prāṇāyāma
  • Chandra mantra and sound
  • Guided meditation
  • Quiet self-reflection
  • Periods of silence
  • Deep relaxation

The full moon also gives us an opportunity to reflect:

What has grown?

What have you learned?

What are you still carrying?

What are you ready to put down?

There is nothing you need to accomplish during this practice.

Come, move, breathe and sit with yourself for a while.

Sometimes clarity does not come from finding another answer.

Sometimes it comes when things become quiet enough to see what was already there.

And afterwards, we stay a little longer.

Yoga does not always have to end when everyone rolls up their mat.

After the practice, we’ll share light snacks and beverages together at Yogshala.

Sit for a while.

Have something to eat.

Talk.

Meet the people you just practised beside.

Or simply enjoy the atmosphere before heading home.

For us, these gatherings are also about sangha—community.

Practice brings us inward, but it does not have to isolate us from one another.

Sometimes a cup of something warm, food shared after practice and an unhurried conversation are just as memorable as what happened on the mat.

No previous experience is required.

You do not need to be flexible, experienced in meditation or familiar with yoga philosophy.

All levels and backgrounds are welcome.

Come as you are.

Practise.

Sit.

Reflect.

Eat something with us.

And leave with a little more space than you arrived with.
