About this Event
What Happens in the Space Between?
Someone says something that lands badly.
Before you've had time to think about it, your chest tightens. Your jaw clenches. Your breathing changes. Maybe you feel heat rise through your body.
And there it is:
Defend yourself.
Say something.
Fix it.
Get out of here.
Your Human Instrument is already playing.
But does your first reaction have to become your next action?
Your Reaction Isn't the Problem
Your nervous system is constantly receiving information and preparing you to respond. When something registers as important, uncertain, or potentially threatening, protective responses can begin before conscious interpretation is complete.
Your body may tense. Your attention may narrow. An emotion or impulse may appear.
That's Activation.
The goal isn't to eliminate it.
Because reaction is information.
It just doesn't have to be the final note.
This Full Moon Tune-Up explores something we don't often give ourselves time to experience:
The space between reaction and response.
What becomes possible there?
The Full Moon Invitation
This Full Moon brings together the symbolic territory of Cancer and Capricorn.
Cancer brings us toward feeling, instinct, sensitivity, protection, and what affects us personally. Capricorn brings structure, responsibility, discernment, and consideration of what happens next.
Together, they offer an interesting question:
Can I feel what I'm feeling without immediately letting the feeling decide what I do?
This isn't about becoming less emotional.
And it isn't about suppressing a reaction so you can appear calm.
It's about discovering whether there is choice inside the experience.
Experience Return To Witness®
We'll begin by exploring The Human Instrument: your body as an instrument that receives information, responds to its environment, and creates its own vibration.
Using your voice, we'll move through a simple tuning sequence with the musical scale and traditional bija, or seed sounds, associated with the primary energy centers.
You'll experience vibration from the inside.
Then we'll practice Return To Witness®:
Activation → Awareness → Agency → Action
Something happens.
Activation: What happened in my Human Instrument?
Awareness: Can I Witness what is happening without immediately trying to change it?
Agency: What is actually available to me now?
Action: What note do I choose to play?
Witnessing doesn't require the reaction to disappear.
Your heart can still be pounding.
You can still be angry.
You can still feel hurt.
You may still want to walk away.
And you can Witness yourself inside all of it.
That's where another possibility can become available.
Then Let Sound Become the Practice
After the interactive opening, you'll lie down, get comfortable, and simply receive.
Crystal singing bowls, gongs, and other resonant instruments will create an immersive landscape of sound, vibration, harmonics, and silence.
A sound may arrive that you love.
Another may surprise you.
One may feel intense.
Notice your Human Instrument.
Does your breathing change?
Do you brace?
Do you anticipate the next sound?
Do you want something to continue or stop?
You don't need to correct any of it.
Notice the reaction. Witness it. Experience what happens next.
The sound itself keeps changing, giving you an opportunity to experience reaction and response without needing to figure anything out.
What Happens in the Space Between?
We can't always control what happens.
And we can't necessarily prevent our nervous system's first response.
But we can practice recognizing the moment when reaction has occurred and action has not yet been chosen.
That space may be brief.
Agency is found there.
REACTION OR RESPONSE?
What Happens in the Space Between?
Come experience your Human Instrument.
Use your own voice.
Practice Return To Witness®.
Receive the sound, and discover what happens in the space between.
You Don't Need To Know What You Need.
Start With What You Notice.
Tone to Tune
During Tune-Up Lunar events, Tone to Tune invites you to experience the musical scale through your own voice. As crystal bowls move through the musical scale, you may hum, tone, or sing with each note while noticing your breath, vibration, attention, and what is playing in your Human Instrument. No musical experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to listen.
Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to settle in. Comfortable clothing is encouraged.
Yoga mats, blankets, eye masks, and bottled water are included.
Reception with tea service and snacks afterwards.
