Title: Forest School as a Space for Neurodivergent Children to Thrive
This is the termly get together of Suffolk Forest School folk - A chance to meet up, share ideas and make new connections.
11am-12noon - networking and swap shop
12-2pm - CPD input: Forest School as a Space for Neurodivergent Children to Thrive
Summary:
What does it look like when a child's needs aren't met and what becomes possible when we offer something fundamentally different? In this reflective and practical session, Sarah and Hev share their experience of creating a trauma-informed, neuroaffirming Forest School where neurodivergent children are supported to regulate, connect and grow on their own terms. Drawing on real examples from their practice, we'll explore:
- How Forest School supports regulation and connection
- Why traditional settings can be a poor fit for many neurodivergent children
- What it means to meet a child where they are, without an agenda
- Practical insights for anyone supporting neurodivergent learners
FREE for FSA Suffolk members, £10 for non-members.
Important information about the session: Children are welcome to accompany you for free but please let us know on your order form so we have an idea of numbers. Please be aware that parents are responsible for their own children especially regarding safety around the fire. We will have a couple of hammocks available for children to enjoy but please note you are responsible for providing their entertainment as the focus of the session is perhaps more sedate and discussion focussed than usual.
Please bring a mug, chair and a packed lunch.
parking available (details to follow in confirmation) - lift share if possible,
