Columbia Youth Choirs with guest artists Ironweed Bluegrass BandColumbia Youth Choirs begins its 14th season with a focus on the art of storytelling presented through folk and bluegrass music. American folk music draws on the experiences of ordinary people, capturing their struggles and successes. These performances occur in kitchens and community churches, on playgrounds and porches, in schools and at socials, in fields and farmlands. Merging choral music with traditional folk instrumentation and styles, Front Porch Stories unites Columbia’s own Ironweed Bluegrass Band, who specializes in bluegrass, traditional country, newgrass, and Cajun music, with the members of CYC to showcase the broad musical landscape of America’s roots.
