About this Event
Great editorial portraits don't happen by accident. They start with a vision. Sony Artisan of Imagery Zabrina Deng has photographed weddings, portraits and editorials around the world, with work published in Vanity Fair, Elle and Vogue Italia's PhotoVogue. In this lecture, she opens up her creative process and shows how she takes an editorial portrait from first idea to finished image.
Zabrina will walk through the five pillars of her workflow:
1. Vision: how to develop a creative concept and story before you pick up the camera.
2. Gear: choosing the right camera, lenses and tools for the look you want.
3. Planning: scouting and working with a location, and preparing for a smooth shoot.
4. Composition: using perspective, architecture and framing to turn everyday environments into creative photographic sets.
5. Posing: directing a model with confidence to create natural, dynamic editorial poses.
The session finishes with an introduction to lighting, covering natural light, LED and off-camera flash, which you'll explore further during the hands-on shoot.
