From Street to Print: A Vancouver Photo Walk & Print Reveal

This experience is open to everyone, from beginners to seasoned professionals.

A Vancouver Street Photography Experience

Most photowalks are only about taking photos.

Join Andrew Legere, fine art photographer and founder of Legere Fine Art Services, for a guided three hour downtown Vancouver street photography walk. With over two decades of experience photographing in dozens of countries and ten years working professionally behind the camera, Andrew brings a practiced and thoughtful approach to the medium. His background in custom picture framing and fine art consulting adds a deeper understanding of how photographs are seen, presented, and experienced.

Not only do we dedicate the time to making photographs, during the walk we examine how light and shadow shape an image, how composition and geometry influence perception, and how colour or black and white can evoke emotions. We will explore the broad nature of street photography, and how there is no single way to approach it. You may find yourself working in a documentary style, observing like a wildlife photographer, or creating more abstract or atmospheric images.

We begin to think more deeply about the photographs we want to make, and how to create them with intention.

When a photograph is printed, it is no longer quickly passed over or forgotten on a screen. It exists. It holds presence. It changes how you understand your own work.

We believe a photograph is not complete until it exists as a print.

Part One: The Photowalk
***Sunday March 29, 9am to 12pm***

Beginning at Victory Square (corner of West Hastings and Cambie Street) with curated stops along the way (approximately 4.5 km), we will move through the city with intention. We will explore The Central Business District, Robson Square, BC Place, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Garden, Gastown, and finish at the Vancouver Steam Clock.

This is a small group experience. This is where our work begins. We slow down, observe carefully, and photograph with purpose. We will spend time in differnt areas, while we discuss how light and shadow define a scene, how composition and timing shape the image, and how to recognize moments worth capturing as they happen.

Part Two:The Print Reveal & Discussion
***Sunday April 12 at 2pm***

Each participant will select one photograph from the walk and submit their digital file within 24 hours to be printed.

Your image will be professionally printed using archival methods by Legere Fine Art Services.

We will reconvene on Sunday April 12th for a group print reveal at a central local licensed establishment (Main Street & Broadway). This session will include two groups, creating a larger collection of photographs and a more dynamic discussion.

Together, we will review each photograph and discuss print quality, paper selection, and photographic presentation.

Each participant receives a museum quality archival print of their photograph to keep (valued at $40).

Open to all levels, from beginners to experienced photographers, and seasoned professionals.

Street photography has no single approach. You may find yourself documenting moments, working with light and shadow, or observing the city in a more abstract way.

All cameras are welcome, including digital, film, and phone cameras.
Film must be developed and scanned for digital submission within 24 hours.
