Join us for a free workshop and breakfast, hosted by STEMteachersDMV at American University, as you learn about the scientific, technological, and economic opportunities and impacts of the chip industries (semiconductor manufacturing and data center operations) that relate to the grades 7-12 physical science content you already teach. Engage with multiple chip industry-contextualized lessons for teaching concepts related to electricity, heat, and waves and optics. Use simple materials, including easy-to-access and low-cost electronics, digital media, and PhET simulations. Learn how to seek more information, including through the project’s upcoming TCHIP Fellowship opportunity, extended Teaching Science for the Chip Industry course, and Northern Virginia Community College's Engineering Technology programs.Participants should bring a laptop computer and writing utensil to this session.
