Blue Ridge Boardband Alliance Quarterly In-Person Event:
Join the Blue Ridge Broadband Alliance for an in-person working session focused on understanding connectivity gaps, strengthening regional digital opportunity efforts, and identifying opportunities for collaboration across Western North Carolina.
This interactive meeting will bring together broadband, digital opportunity, community development, government, nonprofit, and other regional partners to explore how residents experience the digital divide and how BRBA can better support shared priorities.
If you care about how we're shaping the future through digital access and adoption, we want your voice in the room.
We will have research speakers from Reid Consulting (you don't want to miss this), Benton Institute, and a game demonstration from the Land of Sky WestNGN team.
Participants will:
- Learn about new ethnographic research documenting community experiences with connectivity and digital access.
- Review regional speed-test analysis maps and discuss discrepancies between reported broadband availability and real-world performance.
- Support the beta test of the digital divide game designed to illustrate how internet access, devices, digital skills, transportation, and household resources shape everyday opportunities.
- Help identify meaningful regional digital opportunity indicators and outcomes.
- Explore potential BRBA workstreams related to infrastructure, devices, digital skills, digital navigation, advocacy, Hispanic and migrant farmworker communities, and other emerging needs.
- Connect with partners and help shape the next phase of BRBA’s regional work.
This will be a hands-on, discussion-based gathering rather than a traditional conference or presentation. Participants should come prepared to share their experiences, contribute ideas, and collaborate with others working to improve connectivity and digital opportunity throughout the region.
