Italy is calling! In collaboration with the Noci Film Festival and California Polytechnic State University, the SLO Film Festival is proud to present “From Puglia with Love: New Voices in Italian Cinema,” the first edition of our annual mini Italian film festival. We will present five short films by young Italian directors, along with an in-person Q&A with the filmmakers from Italy. The event will take place from 5:30pm to 8:30pm on Tuesday, November 10th with an Italian Aperitivo serving of light bites and drinks, followed by the screenings and Q&A sessions with the directors and the Noci Film Festival team.
Refreshments are provided by local favorite, Café Roma.
About the partnership:
Funded by the Italian Government to promote Italian cinema and support exchange between Italian and California filmmakers and festival professionals, the Noci Film Fest/SLOIFF partnership was designed with Teresiana Matresese (Cal Poly/Noci Film Festival), Randi Barros (Cal Poly) and Skye McLennan (SLOIFF), as an international exchange program for young directors. In July 2026, Noci hosted a California jury of McLennan, Iannotta, Cartareggia, Randi Barros (Cal Poly), and Jennie Tugend (American Film Institute), along with two Cal Poly students, Reagan Bones and Riley Petrocco, who made the short film You Jump, I Jump about the collaboration, which premiered at SLOIFF 2026. The exchange continues in November 2026, when California hosts Italian filmmakers chosen by Noci for “From Puglia with Love: New Voices in Italian Cinema,” with screenings and Q&As organized by SLOIFF in San Luis Obispo and SDIFF in San Diego.
