Join us for an evening with two historical fiction authors who bring overlooked and misunderstood characters to life.Janyre Tromp’s newest novel, The Raven Tree, is set on the Leelanau Peninsula in the 1960s. Molly Greeley has written two novels about minor characters from Pride and Prejudice, and another about the real Renaissance couple whose marriage may have inspired Beauty and the Beast. In both authors’ work, setting does more than frame the story. It shapes the characters, reflects their inner lives, and sometimes feels like a character of its own.
In a relaxed, friendly conversation, Janyre and Molly will talk about how they research the past and turn it into a story. They’ll also explore the bigger questions historical fiction lets us ask, about memory, place, perspective, and whose stories get remembered. A short audience Q&A will follow.
Whether you’ve read their books or are just curious about historical fiction, you’re welcome here. This event is free and open to the public, and books will be available for purchase and signing.
