Join us on Monday October 19, 2026 for one night only as The Gabriel Alegria Afro-Peruvian Sextet welcomes Sofia Carrasco's project RAMAJE on a shared bill at one of the most creative and vibrant Art Spaces in the Tri-State Area. Green Space Studios.
You are invited to immerse yourself in the vibrant rhythms of Afro-Peruvian and Andean Jazz Music. Festejo, Lando, Zamacueca, Marinera...
These rich traditions will be brought to life for you by the incomparable energy of The Gabriel Alegría Afro-Peruvian Sextet.
Adding to the evening will be Sofia's explorations of Afro-Andean music including the magical Tunantada tradition.
The musician's signature blend of traditional Peruvian sounds and modern jazz influences is at the core of this experience.
This WILL be the greatest night of music in the tri-state area... 😉

More About the Artists...
The Gabriel Alegria Afro-Peruvian Sextet has produced nine CDS, one documentary film and two vinyl records to date. Their audiences come from all over the globe.
During your magical evening, you may even be invited to participate in Tour Perú - Behind the Scenes, an innovative concept by which fans of the band literally join the musicians on the road on tour in Peru!
With home bases in Lima and New York City, the band has been embraced by both cities. Hot House Magazine awarded the band New York City’s “Best Ensemble of the Year” award and the New York City Jazz Record “Best Latin Jazz Album.”
The band has successfully developed and consolidated a thriving “scene” around Afro-Peruvian jazz music. The Latin Jazz Network described the band in this way:
“Every once in a while there comes a musician who, when playing his or her chosen instrument, seems to carry within a vital life-force that is irrepressible.”
Sofia Carrasco's RAMAJE is an artistic project created by Peruvian musicians Sofía Carrasco, saxophonist, composer, and visual artist, and Víctor Sotomayor, pianist and composer.
Their work explores the meeting point between contemporary jazz and Peruvian musical traditions through original composition and improvisation.
Their music engages with Andean and Afro-Peruvian sounds, drawing from traditions such as tunantada, festejo, and landó as starting points for developing their own language within jazz.
The name Ramaje, meaning branches or foliage in Spanish, evokes branches growing from shared roots and reflects the project’s exploration..
