About this Event
Most people in the Upstate have no idea how close they've been to the ground floor of something.
Clemson researchers have been building companies out of their own labs for years. Some are now attracting NIH grants, NSF funding, and private capital. One of them, , started as an energy management platform conceived inside the Clemson Energy Visualization and Analytics Center at the Watt Family Innovation Center. Today it has state and private funding and a clear path to market. CarbonCents is also generating revenue now and employs Clemson students and graduates, but the road from the lab to revenue wasn't short.
Join i4Series, the Clemson University Research Foundation (CURF), South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA), and Fund That Tiger for a panel discussion about what it takes to fund early-stage companies coming out of Clemson research, the challenges those companies face scaling and sustaining growth, and what a structured fund behind CURF could change.
You'll hear directly from the people building, those who've made it through, and others working to make sure the next wave has a better shot. Then we open it up.
A direct look at a $10 million capital campaign designed to help keep the Upstate's best companies here in South Carolina.
