Please join us for this in-person roundtable discussion exploring ideas from Daisy Fancourt’s book “Art Cure,” selected for the 2026-2027 ASU Common Read. We'll meet at the outdoor patio on the north side of the Piper Writers House on ASU's Tempe campus.
With an introduction by Writing Programs' Director Roger Thompson and moderated by Instructor Adam Hoffman, a panel of artists – who are also teachers, curators and health advocates – discusses personal approaches to creativity, artistic practice, and wellness. Featured panelists include:
* Cala Coats, Associate Professor and Head of Art Education, Arizona State University
* Barbara Crawford, Professor of Art and Art History, Southern Virginia University
* Ty Defoe, Professor of Practice in English, Arizona State University and Co-Founder, Indigenous Direction
* Kat Kiernan, Artist, Writer, Curator and Manager of Public Programs, The Morgan Library and Museum, New York City
All are welcome; refreshments served.
This event is presented as part of Humanities Week 2026 by Writing Programs in the Department of English at ASU, with support from ASU’s School of Art and from the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing.
