About this Event
FrogWatch USA is a nationwide community science program that supports wetland conservation by engaging volunteers in monitoring amphibian populations. Participants learn to identify and report local frog and toad calls, contributing valuable data to scientists and conservationists. The program is led by the Akron Zoo and includes over 140 chapters across the United States.
The Thomas Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District (TJSWCD) and the Rivanna Conservation Alliance (RCA) have partnered to form the Central Virginia Chapter. The Nature Conservancy is encouraging volunteers to participate and collect data at our nature preserves and protected sites!
This training includes:
- A presentation on how to identify frog and toad calls
- Instructions on how to establish your own FrogWatch monitoring site
- A call identification quiz to wrap up the session
This event is free, but registration is required. If you have any questions, please contact Brynna Strand at [email protected].
