About this Event
Being friends with someone means seeing them more clearly (and beautifully!) than they see themselves. In this workshop, we’re going to tap into that special skill and create art for our friends that shows off all the amazing things we see in them.
While we won’t be painting in this workshop, we’ll use curated artistic tools and tricks to explore portraits in a variety of ways, including:
- A warmup sketch activity to help loosen your hand and start seeing your friends more deeply
- Playful cartoon portraits inspired by one of our favorite drawing teachers
- A custom portrait poem that will help you explore sensory words related to your friend and your friendship
- A final collage portrait activity to bring together all the things you love about your friend and walk away with something meaningful to give them
All skill levels are welcome! We’ll provide the materials you need and you’ll be walked through each activity by talented visual artist Sam Amberg.
This event will be co-hosted by Sam Amberg and Erin Greenawald, longtime friends and co-founders of Forevers, a project to help you deepen your friendships. It’s part of , a four-day celebration of friendship in Raleigh-Durham. Click here to see all of the events!
