Come learn about the magic of dyeing with fresh indigo.
Indigo is annual plant to grows well in the PNW and working with it fresh is such a fun and easy way to get some beautiful blue and green hues without going through the whole process of making an indigo vat. I’ve been growing indigo for 6 years and love dyeing with it fresh.
In this class we will harvest and process the fresh indigo in the garden, then each person will get to dye a bandana to take home.
You will learn how to pre-treat your fabric, two different methods for working with fresh indigo, some simple shibori techniques (resist techniques for creating patterns on your fabric) and how to grow your own indigo. This hands-on class will get you going so you can grow and dye with fresh indigo yourself!
Class will take place on Sunday September 27nd from 1-4pm and will be held in my garden on Noon Rd, about 15min NE of Bellingham (towards Everson). Directions and details will be provided when you sign up. Cost is $65 and you will go home with your beautiful indigo dyed bandana and a detailed handout.
