Discover Stamford’s hidden history with our free guided Town Hall and Gaol tours.Step inside this beautiful Grade II* listed building on St Mary’s Hill and explore over 500 years of civic history. Led by expert volunteer guides, you’ll visit areas not usually open to the public, including the Council Chamber, Mayor's Parlour and historic Courtroom.
New for 2026, you can also explore the Georgian gaol beneath the Town Hall, see an original cell, and hear stories of what life was like for prisoners in the past.
Tours run from 17 April to 20 November 2026, every Friday at 11:30am and 2pm, and last around one hour.
It's free to attend, with donations welcomed to support Stamford’s historic collections and the development of a future town museum.
