Ever wondered what’s behind the door of Dr Buck’s House?Join us for a guided tour of this fascinating Georgian townhouse in the heart of Settle and discover more about its history, its connection with composer Edward Elgar and our plans for its future.
Dr Buck’s House is owned by the North Craven Building Preservation Trust and is currently being considered for restoration and future community use.
Edward Elgar spent many happy summers in Craven as a guest of his friend Dr Buck and regularly visited the house which bears his name.
On Sunday 11 October, to coincide with Settle Artisan Market, we’ll be opening the house from 11am-3pm.
Guided tours will take you beyond the front room and give you the chance to explore more of the building.
Tours are free, but advance booking is required.
Approximate tour duration: 40 minutes.
You can also drop into the ground-floor front room at any time between 11am and 3pm without booking to see our display about the history of the house and our plans for the building.
