On Sunday, September 20, from noon to 3:00 PM, ArtPark at 14 S Genesee St in Waukegan will host a Free Swap Meet & Mutual Aid Fest.The idea is simple: take what you need, give what you can, and reduce waste together. A Really Really Free Swap Meet is a community event where people share goods and skills without money, bartering, or trading. Everyone is welcome, whether you bring something to share, take something you need, or simply come connect with neighbors.
Items of interest include clothing, accessories, shoes, baby items, books, art, records, plants, furniture, kitchen and home goods, tools, craft supplies, instruments, music gear, and electronics.
Set-up is free and no registration is required. Participants host their own area, so bring a table or blanket for displaying items. Canopies are encouraged for shade. Please stay with your setup during the event and take any remaining items home afterward.
All items should be clean, gently used, reusable, and in good working condition. A simple rule applies: If you wouldn't give it to a friend, don't bring it here. One person's junk might just be junk.
The event also needs volunteers who can share practical skills, including clothing mending, basic bike maintenance, and resume support such as feedback, cover letters, and interview practice.
Give an hour, help a neighbor, meet new people, and build community.
