The Gathering Place will host a free Survivorship Symposium, The Next Chapter: Life Beyond Cancer, on Saturday, Nov. 7, offering education, practical resources and opportunities to connect with others navigating survivorship.Check-in and a light breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m., and lunch is included.
The program will feature a livestream presentation by Dr. Wayne B. Jonas, a board-certified family physician and expert in integrative health and whole-person care. Jonas is the co-author of Healing and Cancer: A Guide to Whole Person Cancer Care.
In addition to Jonas’ presentation, the symposium will include:
• Coping With Anxiety: Bess Kaple, MSW, LSW, will share strategies for managing anxiety during survivorship.
• Survivorship Panel Discussion: Participants will share their personal experiences navigating life beyond cancer.
• Treatment Is Over … Now What? Beth Slepecky, BSN, RN, OCN, and Shannon Balog, DNP, APRN-CNP, AOCNP, will discuss survivorship care plans and the transition after treatment.
• Self-Care: Rose Hosler, BSN, RN, HNB-BC, HWNC-BC, will introduce practical techniques to promote calmness.
