Open-Format Social Dancing (Salsa, Bachata & More)

Social Dance Etiquette:

1. Just learning? You're welcome to ask for advice, if you're a lead, wait until or if the follow asks for advice.
2. To ask for a dance, make eye contact, approach politely, and say, "Would you like to dance?" Avoid pulling partners. Decline or accept graciously. Rest away from dance areas and avoid quick reacceptance after declining. Anyone can ask anyone to dance—etiquette keeps the scene welcoming!
3. If you feel uncomfortable during a dance, you can say, "Thank you, I’d like to stop dancing."
4. If you're with a partner, others may not realize. Stay close to the DJ booth to signal you're dancing together.
5. If declined, don’t take it personally—there are plenty of opportunities to dance! Go ask another "follow" or "lead" for a dance!

Tips for a Better Experience:

1. Practice social dancing and take studio classes to improve your skills and grow as a dancer. Don't just rely on free events like we have here lol but make sure you follow our page: @3rdStreetPromenadeSalsaFamilia
2. Understand dance styles like LA Salsa On1 (flashy more about dips), Salsa On2, Cuban Salsa, Sensual Bachata, and Traditional Bachata, Cha-Cha to expand your appreciation and versatility.
3. Social dancing is like learning a new language—it opens doors to dance events worldwide!

Info: By 8PM, we'll typically have a new salsa DJ taking over. Certain DJs will be playing different genres of salsa, from salsa timba, to salsa romantica, modern bachata, cha cha and much more!
