About this Event
Salsa can feel intimidating from the sidelines. If you have ever hesitated to join the dance floor, here is your sign: you can absolutely learn to dance!
Join Mambo Bones Salsa Dance Studio at The Valentine Museum for an hour of rhythm, connection, and energy. We teach the basics of salsa and bachata from the ground up in a low-pressure, friendly environment where everyone is welcome.
What to Expect
- Zero Experience Required: If you can walk, you can dance. We break everything down into easy, manageable steps.
- Come Solo or With a Partner: You do not need a partner to join. We rotate during class, making it the perfect way to meet new people.
- One Hour of Joy: We pack plenty of energy into a single hour. It is the perfect mid-week mood-booster.
- Good Vibes Only: Our class is judgment-free. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes you can move in, bring your energy, and let’s get moving.
Event Details
- Who: Taught by the instructors at Mambo Bones Salsa Dance Studio.
- Where: The Valentine Museum.
- Duration: 1 hour.
- Bring: Just yourself, some water, and an open mind.
- What to Wear: If shoes have too much grip (like most running sneakers or hiking boots), your feet get stuck during turns, which puts a lot of stress on your ankles and knees.
- For the Ladies:
- Smooth-soled flats: Think loafers or dress shoes with a hard plastic or leather sole.
- Low, sturdy heels: If you want some height, choose a block heel or a wedge with an ankle strap. Avoid stilettos or "slip-on" heels that might fly off mid-turn.
- Dance Sneakers: Brands like Fuegos are popular because they look like street shoes but are designed to spin.
- For the Gentlemen:
- Dress shoes: Leather-soled oxfords or loafers are perfect because they slide easily.
- Minimalist Sneakers: Look for shoes with a worn-down, flatter tread rather than deep, "toothy" grips.Overall rule of thumb for shoes: Wear something comfortable that stays securely on the foot and has a relatively smooth bottom. If you can pivot on the ball of your foot on a kitchen floor without getting stuck, you are good to go!
