Fin du Temps Ensemble
Formed in 2025 at the Royal Academy of Music, the Fin du Temps Ensemble unites four musicians drawn together by their fascination with music that confronts urgency, crisis, and the fragility of our times. Their debut project centres on Olivier Messiaen’s Quatuor pour la fin du temps, written in 1941 within the walls of a prisoner-of-war camp—a work that, through its vision of eternity and transcendence, still speaks with unsettling clarity to the present generation.
Each member brings an individual artistry shaped within the Academy’s tradition of excellence: violinist Elfida Su Turan, cellist Tianao Pan, clarinettist Stefan Bulyha, and pianist Cherry Ge. Together, they pursue repertoire that asks not only for virtuosity but for reflection—works that challenge both players and listeners to reckon with upheaval and transformation, whether personal, cultural, or planetary. As a newly established ensemble, they are committed to building programs that balance canonical 20th-century works with music of today, seeking out composers and ideas that resonate with the social and environmental challenges of the current era. In this way, the Fin du Temps Ensemble aims to contribute to a broader dialogue within contemporary performance—where the concert space becomes not only a site of artistry, but of questioning, connection, and response. The Fin du Temps Ensemble are grateful for the mentorship and guidance from Adrian Brendel, Tamara Stefanovich, John Reid, and Nicola Elmer.
