About this Event
Kwentuhan Sunday: Bridging Our Stories × Tayo
When Ketchikan, Alaska lost its Filipino community center, Alma, a Filipina who spent decades resisting her heritage, traveled to the Philippines to learn indigenous dances and bring them home to the next generation of Filipino Alaskans.
Bridging Our Stories follows that journey. The film won two awards at CAAMFest 2026, took home Audience Choice for Best Short at the Seattle Asian American Film Festival, and has screened at more than 14 festivals.
Now it returns to San Francisco for an afternoon of kwentuhan: swapping stories, sharing work, and building what comes next.
Alma's journey home started with one question. Tayo helps you ask yours. After the film, Tayo founder John Carandang shares how his life coaching tool helps Filipinos and other young adults reflect on their own story, name what matters most, and turn it into a plan.
Then the floor opens to you. Filipino creators, builders, and founders pitch their projects in two-minute lightning shares, each ending with one ask for the room: a collaborator, a client, feedback, or a helping hand.
To grab a spot, answer the lightning-share question when you RSVP or email [email protected]. Spots are limited, and we'll confirm by Nov 18. Priority goes to those who help make the event happen, like donating food or volunteering.
We close with merienda and time to connect. You'll walk away with:
- A rare screening of an award-winning Filipino film
- Free access to tayo, an AI life coaching tool
- Real connections and opportunities, like new clients, partners, or teammates
Free. RSVP required. Seating is limited, so grab your spot early.
