We are excited to invite all community members to join our Autumn FREE Community Wilderness Hiking Workshop, designed to build confidence, knowledge, and practical skills in the outdoors.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to upskill and refine your hiking experience, this workshop is a great opportunity to learn, connect, and enjoy the outdoors in a supportive environment.
Join us at our stunning Exodus property in Buccarumbi for an unforgettable half-day experience focused on essential wilderness hiking skills for beginners and upskilling hikers alike.
Spaces are limited – only 12 spots available – so early registration is encouraged.
Family and friends are welcome to come along and be part of this exciting, family-friendly weekend in nature.

REQUIREMENT
• Wilderness Hiking is a family-friendly sport however you must be 10+ years old to participate in the workshop.
• No experience required and no upper age limit.
• Don’t worry if you’ve never hiked before. This half day workshop is led by qualified guides who have extensive knowledge and unmatched hiking experience (military trained), ensuring that your day is both fun and safe.

WHAT'S INCLUDED
• Expert training in essential hiking skills and safety.
• Qualified and experienced hiking instructors and guides to ensure participant safety and support.
• Free quality equipment provided, including hiking packs (40L–90L), compass, and maps.
• Wilderness first aid kit, radios, and InReach satellite communication devices.
• 24-hour 4WD support vehicle and satellite tracking assistance.
• One free budget-friendly hiking meal idea will be provided.

WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED
• There is no supervision of children over the weekend. Parents or guardians are fully responsible for supervising any child under the age of 18 while on the Exodus property.
• Please bring your own hiking food and snacks for the duration of the weekend.
• Toilets: If staying overnight, you are required to bring your own primitive toilet setup:.
• Do not leave any waste or toilet paper in the bush.
• All human waste must be disposed of using a “cathole” system: dig a hole at least 15–20cm (6–8 inches) deep and wide enough to use comfortably, and at least 50–70m (200ft) away from rivers, dams, trails, and campsites.
• Cover the hole completely with soil. Toilet paper must be packed out or buried with the wast
• No catering is provided for the workshop or weekend.

ITINERARY
Saturday 23rd May
Half day wilderness hiking workshop: Approx 4 hours
Start time: 9am
Finish time: 1pm
Join us for a practical, hands-on introduction to wilderness hiking skills in a relaxed and supportive outdoor setting.
Throughout the morning you’ll learn essential skills, tips, and techniques to help you feel more confident and prepared in the bush.
After lunch, you’re welcome to stay on and choose from two self-guided hiking practice options:
1. Family-friendly hike – relaxed pace, easy terrain. An optional overnight camping experience can also be added.
2. Experienced hikers’ option – more challenging terrain to put your skills to the test. An optional overnight camping experience can also be added.
This is an excellent opportunity to apply what you have learned in real-world conditions and build confidence on the trail, with our qualified hiking instructors nearby to provide support as needed. You can also have the option to extend the experience with an overnight camping stay.
Hiking meals, cooking equipment, and tent & camping mat hire is available.

CHECK-IN DETAILS
• A maximum of 12 participants can attend the half-day wilderness hiking workshop. You can also have the option to extend the experience with an overnight camping stay.
• Registration is required via our website, and all participants must complete an online waiver prior to attendance.
• Participants must be 10 years or older to join the workshop. Children under 10 are welcome to take part in the Family-Friendly Hike – relaxed pace, easy terrain option available after lunch. This is a self-guided, self-paced experience.
• You are welcome to bring your own hiking pack, tent, sleeping mat, and cooking equipment. However, if any items are deemed unsuitable, we will provide appropriate gear to ensure you can safely and comfortably participate.
• Please take all rubbish with you. There is no rubbish collection at Buccarumbi, and we ask all participants to follow a strict Leave No Trace ethic to help protect our rivers, land, and environment.

• Children under 18 year of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

EXTRAS
A range of equipment is available, including cooking equipment, camping gear, and hire of tents and sleeping mats. Hiking meals are also available.
