4-5 P.M.
Yaupon Brothers American Tea Co.
470 Old Hwy 17
Crescent City, Florida 32112
Historical society members and guests will have an opportunity to tour the Yaupon Brothers American Tea Company just a five-minute drive north of town. The company is a Florida-based pioneer distributing organic and regenerative yaupon products. They offer a wide variety of yaupon tea flavors which members will have an opportunity to sample at a free tea tasting.,
The history of the yaupon holly dates back thousands of years to the indigenous peoples of what is now the southeastern United States. Known as the sacred “black drink,” tribes like the Timucua, Apalachee, Cherokee, and the Creek brewed a strong, concentrated, decoction of roasted yaupon leaves for political and spiritual purification rituals.
Please plan to arrive a few minutes early as the tour begins promptly at 4 p.m. For those who are interested, packets of yaupon tea will be available to purchase after the tour is over.
