Join us for a sustainability inspired experimental workshop exploring the visual language of found objects in combination with the natural shades of botanical inks.
Through a set of guided activities your will experiment with frottage, pochoir and block printing with various inks and a variety of papers and fabric. You will explore an array of relationships between colour, shape and texture to create unique compositions, and will leave with a comprehensive range of print experiments to take home.
This workshop will suit those looking to expand their printmaking repertoire with particular focus, practical examples and discussion around eco-friendly products and methods. It will introduce applications for natural materials whilst reclaiming and reusing versatile waste materials.
What will I need to bring?
All materials and equipment will be provided.
Please wear old clothes as printing can get messy. No sandals, heels or open toed shoes. Aprons will be provided.
Teas, coffees and biscuits are provided.
This course is run by Joanna Rucklidge.
Joanna is an artist, educator, and researcher exploring consumer culture and environmental awareness through experimental printmaking. With over 20 years of experience in art & design education at BA and MA level, she is currently studying for a PhD in Visual Communication at Sheffield Hallam University.
About Carousel Print Studio
Carousel Print Studio is a not for profit charity based on the ground floor of Exchange Place Studios in Castlegate, Sheffield. Carousel provides printmaking workshops and facilities for creatives in Sheffield, in a bright, warm, accessible and well equipped printmaking studio.
Carousel is located on the ground floor just to the left of reception. The doors are widened for ease of access and there is an accessible toilet. If you have any questions regarding access needs please do contact us at [email protected]
