Fortitude Valley Beer Hall Oktoberfest
Six Brisbane breweries. Six Festbiers. Genuine Bavarian beer. One proper beer hall.
On Saturday 26 September, six independent Brisbane breweries come together at Soapbox Brewing in Fortitude Valley for an Oktoberfest built around the beer and brewing culture of Munich.
After visiting Munich for Oktoberfest last year, Soapbox brewer Ian wanted to create an event that went beyond the usual steins, lederhosen and party atmosphere — an Oktoberfest that actually means something to people who care about beer.
Just as the six Munich breweries are central to the real Oktoberfest, six Brisbane breweries have each brewed their own traditional Festbier specifically for this event: Soapbox, Working Title, Slipstream, Hiker, Happy Valley and Milton Common.
That gives you the chance to taste six different Brisbane Festbiers side-by-side, along with a second German or German-inspired beer from each brewery.
And we've brought some Bavaria into the room too, with beers from Weihenstephan, Ayinger and Schlenkerla alongside the local breweries.
Add traditional German food, Bavarian music, live entertainment and the brewers themselves pouring and talking about their beers, and you've got a proper beer-hall Oktoberfest — built by people who actually make the beer.
