"For the Record" has technically been around for a while, but now it's official! Join us as we kick off a new series of vinyl nights bringing interstate guest DJs to Syd, while launching our website (finally!), AND soft launching my very first music app!
The app - a music manager built for vinyl heads, helping you manage your record collection, look up extended track info like BPM and key, design and print custom labels, and quickly price records for sale using online Discogs market data.
I'll be bringing a few laptops along so you can try the app out for yourself on the night. Here's a taste of what it can do:
• Manage your vinyl library – import collections from Discogs.
• Enrich your collection data – use the Discogs API to look up track listings, durations, BPMs, keys and more.
• Design and print custom labels – a fully customisable label designer, whether for your personal collection or for labelling records for sale (allows for multiple saved templates).
• Bridge vinyl and digital – scan your Rekordbox library to see which vinyl tracks you already have digitally and which still need to be digitised. You can also play tracks directly from your device through the built-in player.
• Serato integration – planned integration with Serato, including conversion between Serato and Rekordbox playlists (hopefully ready by November).
• Built-in player – play music files stored on your computer or phone, or link to Spotify.
• Quick pricing for sellers – flip through records you've marked for sale and get pricing suggestions based on Discogs sales history, with settings you can customise to suit your own preferences and current market conditions.
• And more!
The app will be browser and Android - iOS to come later.
Pricing model still to be determined but I'll give away some free codes for keen beta testers - so come along, have a play around, check out the new website, enjoy some vinyl, and let me know what you think!
